Stock lost in rollover

A ROLLOVER involving a cattle truck caused several disruptions and left two cows dead earlier this week.

On Monday a cattle truck laden with 15 animals on upper and lower decks, was involved in a rollover on Old Grassy Road. Police investigations into the incident are continuing.

The crash closed Old Grassy Road at the South Road intersection through to Mount Stanley and Kentford Road intersection for a large part of the day. The truck crash also took out a power pole and a TasWater Grassy to Currie water land valve. It meant electricity services were also interrupted for a several hours.

Fortunately, the driver was able to leave the vehicle. Two livestock died as a result of the accident. The cattle in the upper deck escaped without harm. The animals were calm and quiet and were examined by a vet. G6M and mine staff gave emergency support and assistance by providing their crane to lift the truck.
