Parents are warned to look out for suspicious financial activity or attempted scams following a possible data theft from a Tasmanian Government third-party file transfer service, GoAnywhere MFT.
The Education, Children and Young People department notified parents of school children this afternoon that financial information might have been compromised, such as names, addresses, invoices and bank account numbers.
Minister for Science and Technology, Madeleine Ogilvie, said that it is important that the community is aware of the possible theft so they can be vigilant and if needed, take practical steps.
Support services for anyone concerned they have had their information stolen include: The Australian Cyber Security Centre at www.cyber.gov.au and Report Cyber at www.cyber.gov/au/acsc/report or contact the relevant financial provider.
