A MUCH loved colleague and friend was remembered at a special event at Swansea late last month with the official opening of the Beach Wheelchair Project.
Held on Friday, February 24, the May Shaw community – staff, residents and family – officially opened the Beach Wheelchair Project.
The project has been a labour of love for all May Shaw staff following the sudden death of Pip Briggs, who worked at May Shaw Swansea for several years. Ms Briggs died last year in a car accident. Ms Briggs dream was to have beach wheelchairs available for those with mobility issues.
“Our open day had a wonderful attendance of over 100 community members who each got to hear about the beginnings of the project and hear some wonderful stories about our Pip,’’ a spokesperson said.
Following the official opening, Pip’s granddaughter, Gracie rode in the pink wheelchair. Funding was provided through a grant and donations from community groups and individuals.
