Aviation careers clear for takeoff

THERE was a lot of excitement at King Island District High with the landing of an Augusta Westland 139 helicopter on the school oval.

The visit was organised by teacher Mrs Mel Blake. Former King Island District High School student, pilot and Senior Reporting Officer at King Island Airport, Jaiden Rainbow and colleagues Michael Briggs and Duncan Richardson shared their expertise and made time to visit the island to encourage students to consider an aviation career.

“All classes visited the helicopter and were able to explore its workings, cockpit and ask questions,” principal Denise Bryant said.

“We are thankful for this opportunity and to be able to introduce different career pathways and possibilities to our students.”
