Three Capes an appealing destination

THE Tasman Peninsula’s Three Capes Track is driving tourist visitation to the region almost as much as Port Arthur.

Considered one of the great walks of Tasmania, last month Victorian tourists Peter Poggioli and Rowena Cowan embarked on the four- day, three-night trek.

No strangers to walking – they have completed several Camino de Santiago walks in France and Spain – the couple were happy to share photos of the 48 km walk which in classic Tasmanian summer fashion was wet, windy and cool.

Ms Cowan said the scenery was spectacular and the sleeping huts and kitchen facilities excellent.

“A well-maintained track, outstanding facilities and a great experience for both novice and veteran hikers,’’ Ms Cowan said.

“The track, artworks and infrastructure are incredibly well planned and maintained.

“I could not get over how comfortable the sleeping huts were and also loved the wide timber decks where you could simply sit and enjoy the view and watch the local wildlife.

“I want to come back and do it again with a group of girlfriends!’’
