Make a date with Wooley

THE public are invited to join in and celebrate the joy of reading at the Sorell Reads Together Festival in March. The festival is just one event being held as part of the first Tasmania Reads Festival run by Libraries Tasmania around the state from March 5-11.

Tasmania Reads is a Tasmanian Government initiative based on the national Australia Reads campaign.

Activities planned include author talks, a book swap and book sale, reading and book-related crafts and a book group, to name just a few.

Michelle from Make Believe Children’s Entertainment will be bringing her unique style of fun with stories and songs.

Journalist, author, media personality and Sorell Deputy Mayor Charles Wooley will speak about his writing and career as a print and television journalist.

There will also be a range of pop-ups by community groups such as Sorell Historical Society, the Country Women’s Association, Reclink Australia, Neighbourhood Houses and local employment and support organisations.

The Salvation Army will be providing a free BBQ and Sorell School Farm will be there with some of its cute farm critters.

The event will be held at Sorell Library in Cole Street on Tuesday, March 7, from 11am-2pm. Everyone in the community is welcome.
