AIR Adventure Golf has won Gold for Best Tour and Transport Operator at the Tasmanian Tourism Awards. The prestigous awards are designed to encourage and recognise innovation, excellence, quality and sustainability in tourism, while providing a benchmark for industry best practice.
Air Adventure Golf general manager Jon Perrett said they were “super excited” to have won gold. “Thanks so much to all our golfers who have trusted us to deliver your group’s epic experiences to four of the best coastal courses on the planet.
“A huge thanks to our partners at Cape Wickham Links, and Ocean Dunes Golf. “Without the vision and courage of those who created these spectacular courses we would not have a product. “We simply enhance the experience for the groups who travel to play these amazing courses.”
Air Adventure Australia was founded in 1977 by the late Rod Dyer and operated air safaris across Australia. John Dyer took the reins at Air Adventure in 2006, and says he is passionate about enriching people’s lives by transforming the way they experience remote Australia, of which Tasmanian golf is a very important aspect.
Mr Perrett grew up in the golf industry with his father designing golf courses around the world with Peter Thomson. Mr Perrett has worked in various roles across the industry and began with Air Adventure in 2016 after taking a group of his clients to King Island with Air Adventure.
Air Adventure has brought golfers from around Australia and overseas to experience King Island and Tasmanian courses as tour operators and have established special golfing events such as the King of the Island Cup; official PGA Pro-Am King Island Tournaments, the Essendon Fields King Island Classic, raising awareness and funds for Make a Wish Australia and recently a partnership with Empower Golf who provide inclusive services, adaptive equipment and to enable all abilities golf to be accessible at King Island’s courses.
The Tasmanian Tourism Awards form part of the prestigious Qantas Australian Tourism Awards. By winning a Tasmanian Tourism Award, Air Adventure attains national recognition, and automatically becomes a finalist in the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
